A Day in the Life: Q+A with Ginamaria Nugent

Hi! My name is Ginamaria Nugent and I’m a Photo Art Director for Express ☺ I’m originally from Northeast Ohio but attended The Ohio State University in 2003 and haven’t left Columbus since. I currently live in Clintonville with my husband and son.

Morning

My two-year-old son gets me out of bed in the morning; sometimes earlier then I would like ????. The best part about my morning is our drive to daycare where we talk about all the fun things both of us are going to do that day. I also cannot function without a cup of coffee and some morning yoga.

Afternoon

Most of my afternoons are spent either planning, executing, or editing photo shoots. I could be doing that in a variety of places – either on-set in New York or on-location in Miami – but most of the time I’m working from our Express Photo Studio located in downtown Columbus.  I love my job because no day is ever the same; it keeps me on my toes! Even though I have been doing this for 10+ years I still get excited to see a photo my team produced prominently displayed either in our stores or online.

Evening

I love to cook, so I try to make dinner every evening – which is not always easy with a two-year-old occasionally running wild. Our routine consists of eating dinner as a family and discussing our day.  While we don’t mind the winter, we are definitely looking forward to warmer weather so we can go for walks to the park and ice cream parlor again.

Also, as far as recipes. During the week I try to make something quick, my go-to cookbooks are The Sprouted Kitchen as well as The Love & Lemons Cookbook. One of my favorite recipes that is quick, easy, but equally delicious is Cacio e Pepe, sometimes I sub the arugula for peas or broccoli.
