Frequently Asked Questions
Does it cost me anything to be placed in creative jobs?
No. There are no fees for talent to join our network or to accept work through us.
How does Portfolio Creative find me creative jobs?
We are constantly talking to clients, promoting our network of talent, and have contacts through our many years in the creative community.
How does direct hire differ from staffing?
Direct hire is a term that refers to a job with a company that is typically full-time, salaried with benefits. Our search firm is working on behalf of that company to find someone who will go to work with them directly and not be employed by our company.
A Staffing opportunity may be a full-time (30 hours or more per week) or part-time role with a company who has agreed to place you onto our payroll making you our employee. In staffing terms, this is a co-employment engagement. We offer benefits along with overtime pay should you work more than 40 hours in a week.
Why should I work with Portfolio Creative to find projects and not just freelance on my own ?
Portfolio spends all day, everyday, working with clients and finding opportunities for our talent. We provide you with access to a wide variety of projects with many different companies. To make your life easier, we handle all of the billing and follow-ups; pay on a set schedule; withhold all necessary employee taxes; and pay all necessary employer taxes. And, we provide a great benefits package when you work with us on a longer-term project.
Do you offer benefits?
You’re a star! We want to treat you that way. We work to get you the best pay possible and have a great benefits package. Benefits vary depending on whether you work full-time or part-time but can include: healthcare/dental/vision insurance, holiday pay, earned PTO time and tuition reimbursements. We also partner with area vendors to offer healthclub, wireless carrier, bank, and office supply discounts. In addition, we have an expert that can assist you with voluntary benefits including life, prepaid legal services and disability insurance options.
Do I have to accept every creative job that Portfolio Creative offers me?
Once you’re in our network and we find a project we think would suit you, we’ll be in touch. If you aren’t interested, just let us know right away so we can consider other candidates.
WHO IS MY ACTUAL EMPLOYER, THE COMPANY I ACCEPT A CREATIVE JOB WITH OR PORTFOLIO CREATIVE?
As a part-time or full-time W2 employee, on the days you work with us, you will be an employee of Portfolio. We will perform all employer duties including payroll and withholding the appropriate taxes.
Can I work with Portfolio Creative as an independent contractor on freelance jobs?
It depends. We know that when you have your own firm, sometimes you are between projects. We would love to work with you. We strictly follow IRS and employment laws, however we will work with IC’s within the legal guidelines.
How quickly will I be paid for my work with Portfolio?
We pay all talent weekly by direct deposit.
How much experience do I need for Portfolio to place me in a creative job?
We don’t believe that talent has anything to do with age. We’re interested in people at all stages of their career, in all creative professions. Even if you are a recent graduate, or almost there, give us a call.
Do you offer internships?
We don’t typically coordinate internships directly. A good resource is the Columbus Chamber of Commerce: www.columbusinternships.com. Also, check with your school’s career resource center.
